Resolutions of GA04

1. DMP would like to thank the companies that have responded to the Portable Audio and Video Device Call for Proposals:

2. DMP determines that

The DMP Technical Specification shall be called “Interoperable DRM Platform”
The DMP Technical Specification shall be based on the “tool-kit” approach, i.e. it will contain normative specifications of elementary technologies required to implement DMP DRM Systems
The DMP Technical Specification shall be approved in Phases. The first Phase (Phase I) shall be approved in April 2005
The DMP Technical Specification shall be complemented by Use Cases that will describe how the technologies in the Technical Specification can be assembled to build DMP DRM Systems
The informative/normative nature of Use Cases is for further study.

3. DMP approves Working Draft 1.0 of Interoperable DRM Platform – Phase I (DMP0240).

4. DMP establishes the following ad hoc group:

Mandate	Continue drafting WD 1.0 Produce a revised WD for consideration by GA05

5. DMP thanks the individuals who have agreed to lead the work of drafting sections of the Interoperable DRM Platform – Phase I Working Draft and invites other members to join the drafting effort.

6. All technologies that have been proposed in response to the PAV CfP could not be considered for incorporation in the WD because of reasons of time. Members are invited to submit proposals of Use Cases to GA05 in order to help the process of identifying suitable technologies based on the responses received at GA04.

7. DMP establishes the following ad hoc group:

N05	Ad hoc Group on Call for Proposals on Updating Security Code and Data
Mandate	Identify scenarios where the update is required and has a measurable impact Define the nature of the technologies required on the basis of other DMP functions and their requirements Propose a draft Call for Proposals to GA05

13. DMP would like to thank the participants in the DMP Workshop on “Analogue legacies in the digital space” for their contributions, Marc Gauvin for its organisation and sDae for hosting the event.

14. DMP plans a workshop on “Deployment of Broadband Access” to be held at Adastral Park (UK) on 2005/01/25. The purpose of the workshop is to gather information on the positive benefits that the Interoperable DRM Platform will have in promoting widespread deployment of broadband capable of supporting effective digital media. DMP encourages the establishment of a promotion group to raise awareness of and participation in the workshop. People interested in joining this promotion group should contact Barry Crabtree (barry.crabtree@bt.com)

15. DMP approves its work plan (DMP0242). The document is public.

16. DMP notes the following communications from the Board

Notification of suspension will be sent to two members who have failed to pay their membership fees
An event to promote the DMP specification should be organised in April after achieving the milestone of approving for publication the Interoperable DRM Platform – Phase I. The event should include a presentation of the TRU effort
The Board will continue to allow participation of non-members to General Assemblies on the basis of the value of expected contribution and promotional effect of the participation.
