AHG on MPEG-4 Part 9: Reference Hardware Description Phase 1 and 2

Mandate:

  1. To collect and coordinate contributions of MPEG-4 video modules described in HDL from Part 2 and Part 10.
  2. To continue the analysis of HDL modules for HW acceleration of MPEG-4 part 10 (AVC), to select relevant modules and coordinate development and submission of such selected modules.
  3. To continue verifying the conformance of submitted HDL source code and associated documentation with the requirements stated in the updated "Call for Submission" document N4966.
  4. To evaluate the interfaces of each module so that the specification of common interfaces might enable modules submitted in phase 1 to be directly reused for phase 2.
  5. To complete the evaluation of tools suitable to support implementation of phase 2.
  6. To proceed with the definition of the MPEG-4 Virtual H/W-S/W Socket that interfaces the HDL modules to the MPEG-4 generically optimized reference S/W part 7 and AVC part 10.
  7. To proceed with functionality updates and releases of the MPEG-4 Integrated Framework that interfaces the HDL modules to the MPEG-4 generically optimized reference S/W part 7 and AVC part 10.
  8. To specify the demonstrator architecture showing the usage of MPEG-4 Part 9 Reference hardware description in an example application.

Mandate:

  1. Finalize requirements on Simple Scene Description and Simple Aggregation Format. Attracts attention and support from the industry on that activity and report actions taken back on the reflector.
  2. Complete evaluation methodology for the CfP on Lightweight Scene Coding (evaluation of Symbian player performance, version of the Symbian OS, ...).
  3. Propose test set as subset of SVGT1.2 to exite the player for performance and compression evaluation.
  4. Review PDAM of ISO/IEC 14496-11:2003/AMD 3 (Audio BIFS Extensions).
  5. Conduct the discussions on MPEG-4 Scene representation along with W3C and 3GPP in the area of streaming text and report actions taken back on the reflector.

AHG on Profiles and Extensions for the MPEG-21 REL

Mandate:

  1. Analyze requirements attached to the OMA liaison statement.
  2. Collect requirements from other industries for possible WG11 MPEG-21 standardized profiles and extensions
  3. Liaise with OeBF and EDItEUR about development of a publishing extension to the MPEG-21 REL
  4. Continue development of the MPEG-21 Profiles under Consideration Document
  5. Study the interoperability implications of extensions
  6. Explore mechanisms for publicizing the existence of extensions and profiles of the MPEG-21 REL.
  7. Examine the process of creating a profile of the MPEG-21 REL how it can be applied to the creation of profiles of other MPEG-21 parts or profiles that apply across multiple MPEG-21 parts and continue development of "Process and Requirements for Profiling in MPEG-21".

AHG on MPEG-7 Interoperability and Profiling

Mandate:

  1. To prepare a preliminary Final Committee Draft, based on NB votes
  2. To further collect profiles into "MPEG-7 Profiles under Consideration"
  3. To collaborate with Multimedia Application Format project to ensure the Simple Metadata Profile (SMP) can satisfy their audio (ID3) and visual (EXIF) applications.
  4. To further collect interoperability test bed requirements.
  5. To define what "union" means for multiple profiles and continue to explore the concept of modular profiling and to propose text for the MPEG-7 Requirements Document and precise syntax for profile signaling.
