Mandate:

- To collect and coordinate contributions of MPEG-4 video modules described in HDL from Part 2 and Part 10.
- To continue the analysis of HDL modules for HW acceleration of MPEG-4 part 10 (AVC), to select relevant modules and coordinate development and submission of such selected modules.
- To continue verifying the conformance of submitted HDL source code and associated documentation with the requirements stated in the updated "Call for Submission" document N4966.
- To evaluate the interfaces of each module so that the specification of common interfaces might enable modules submitted in phase 1 to be directly reused for phase 2.
- To complete the evaluation of tools suitable to support implementation of phase 2.
- To proceed with the definition of the MPEG-4 Virtual H/W-S/W Socket that interfaces the HDL modules to the MPEG-4 generically optimized reference S/W part 7.
- To specify the demonstrator architecture showing the usage of MPEG-4 Part 9 Reference hardware description in an example application.
