Mandate: To refine the subset of XML Schema and the extensions necessary to satisfy MPEG-7 DDL requirements.

To develop an MPEG-7 parser based on an existing Java XML Schema parser and integrate it with the XM;

To continue assisting and advising the DS and D groups with encoding their Descriptors and Description Schemes in the DDL and to refine the DDL as required to satisfy their requirements;

To resolve any DDL open issues;

To continue to maintain the DDL web site;

To continue the liaison with W3C’s relevant working groups. This includes:

Continued tracking of XML Schema developments;

Investigation of how to extend XML Schema to satisfy MPEG-7 requirements;

Input of specific MPEG-7 requirements to the XML Schema W3C Working Group;

Dissemination of relevant W3C WG documents back to MPEG-7.

Mandate: Harmonize existing proposals (M6061, M6106, M6142) and existing technology (e.g. those listed in M6292) for binary and dynamic MPEG-7 data representation.

Generate reference results using the harmonised proposals for binary and dynamic MPEG-7 data representation according to the test conditions specified in Core Experiment on Binary and Dynamic representation.

Contribute to the WD of MPEG-7 Systems on the binary and dynamic MPEG-7 data representation based on the harmonised proposals.

Evaluate if the functionnality described in m6249 can be achieved by existing MPEG-7 tools. In case they can not, develop appropriate tools to support this functionality.

Propose extension of the reference DS in collaboration with MDS so that functionality described in m6249 can be achieved.

  1. Produce requirements for the framework for the carriage of MPEG-4 over IP based protocols including requirements on the payload format by 11th of August 2000.
  2. Construct a solution for the payload format satisfying the agreed requirements starting from the payload format as defined in R Civanlar et al., " RTP Payload Format for MPEG-4 Streams", IETF Draft, draft-ietf-avt-rtp-mpeg4-02.
  3. Produce final text for the La Baule meeting for the framework for the carriage of MPEG-4 over IP starting from the Beijing output.
