AHG on Metadata Interoperability

Mandate:

  1. Analyze interoperability of MPEG-7 with external metadata systems, eg., MXF, 3GPP, ID3 V2, and EXIF.

  2. Analyze DMS1/MPEG-7 interoperabilty by attempting to map DMS1 sets/frameworks to MPEG-7 datatypes, Ds, and DSs.
  3. Analyze the profiles proposed for TV production (DMS-1) and TV Programmes (NHK proposal) and explore what profiles and levels are needed to cover this in a generic way.
  4. Propose additions to both schemas and DS’s to achieve harmonization.

Ad Hoc Group on MPEG-4 Scene Representation

Mandate:

  1. Define/Improve/Perform core experiments on Advanced Text and Graphic (ATG):

    1. on font format to validate the font representation and compression technology wrt Shanghai requirements;

    2. on synthesized texture.

  2. Produce WD3.9 of ATG.
  3. Complete cross-checking of existing streams, conduct the discussions on 14496-4. Produce conformant bitstream for the profile@levels included in ISO/IEC 14496-1 and check if they exercise all the functionality of the said profile@level.
  4. Check that appropriate reference can be made to OpenType.
  5. Conduct the discussions on MPEG-4 Scene representation along with W3C in the area of streaming text and Web3D in the area of 3D scene representation.
  6. Sollicit contributions on Streaming text.
  7. Discuss software (reference and Im1) to be developed for font format representation and compression.

AHG on AVC Verification Tests

Mandate:

  • To evaluate the coding efficiency of the AVC in comparison with MPEG-4 part 2 and MPEG-2 part 2 by the following task leading to the final verification test:

  • Formulating the test methodologies and schedule.
  • Selecting appropriate test sequences for all resolutions.
  • Identifying and securing latest available software and resources for performing the test.
  • Managing the Test Plan.
  • Use of preliminary coding results to fine tune the verification test.
